Online Tutoring
Elizabeth King Coaching offers live, one on one private tutoring for the SAT and ACT in an online setting designed to meet each student’s specific needs. We also offer help developing college application essays and resumes. Elizabeth King, author of OUTSMARTING the SAT (Ten Speed Press), has partnered with some of the most outstanding tutors in the country to make the private, boutique tutoring experience easily accessible to students worldwide. Each member of the tutoring team has an exceptional history creating tutoring experiences that empower students to maximize their SAT and ACT scores.
Each personalized online tutoring experience will foster not only a great SAT or ACT score but also confidence, a renewed ability to creatively tackle problems, and enhanced critical thinking skills. While every tutor on the team is a specialist in standardized test preparation, each individual is a teacher, mentor, and coach first.
How It Works
Each online tutoring session works exactly like traditional, in-person tutoring, only all the preparation is done over the internet. You probably already have most of what you need to get started. It’s easy and extremely convenient–we find that most students absolutely love the flexibility of prepping at home once they get started. If you’re feeling apprehensive, we’ve taken the time to address the concerns we hear the most; take a moment to learn the benefits of online tutoring.
What To Expect From Us
You can read more about our philosophy here, but this is it in a nutshell:
- Authenticity. Since we as a company don’t subscribe to the idea of gaming the test and or trying to get around the real work necessary to be truly successful on any standardized test, you’re going to be confronted with hardcore honesty about what you need to know and how you need to think about the test. The good news is that we’ll never ask you to do anything we don’t believe is completely worthwhile, but we’ll ask you to do everything without cutting corners. We don’t ask anything of our students that we don’t expect of ourselves.
- Accountability. We don’t always give a lot of homework, but we do expect you to do the work we ask you to do. We don’t want to nag you about it because that’s a lousy experience for all of us. Our staff is here to help you and your family navigate these tests and answer questions throughout the experience.
- No busy work. (Surely you must have something better to do with your time–and we’re good enough to know that there’s always more you can learn and refine. You won’t be getting “do this test and then we’ll go over it” tutoring with us.)
- Progress. You are definitely going to learn new critical thinking skills, vocabulary, grammar, and math. You’ll be able to take the skills you learn while we work together with you to college.
- Your score is going to go up. Everyone’s does.
- Renewed confidence. Everything on these tests is learnable. Let’s start treating it that way.
- A little bit of comedy. Letting the cat out of the bag: we all know that prepping for standardized tests is not preferable to, well, almost anything. We try to keep it light and always positive.
- Mutual respect.

We offer customized, personal, one-on-one online tutoring at rates comparable to the top tier packages of other test preparation companies, but without the requirement of buying packages of hours.
